Description
Product Overview
The HDP6600 removes the usual trade-off in retransfer printing. Retransfer normally costs you speed in exchange for quality; the HDP6600 delivers up to 230 cards per hour – quicker than most direct-to-card printers – while printing at 600 dpi, double the resolution of every other model in the FARGO range.
That resolution matters for security printing. Microtext, fine guilloche patterns and high-detail security marks that blur at 300 dpi reproduce cleanly at 600, which is why the HDP6600 appears in government identity and enterprise credential programmes.
iON technology addresses the practical annoyance of retransfer printing: warm-up. Traditional retransfer printers need several minutes to reach transfer temperature. The HDP6600 is ready in under 60 seconds, which also lowers standby power consumption in an office running the printer intermittently.
Wasteless lamination is the other efficiency gain, using overlaminate material far more economically than conventional systems and cutting the running cost of producing tamper-resistant cards. Combined with a 200-card output hopper and optional 200-card input, the HDP6600 is designed to run large batches with minimal intervention.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the HDP6600 different from the HDP5000e?
The HDP6600 prints at 600 dpi against the HDP5000e 300, runs at up to 230 cards per hour against 133, warms up in under 60 seconds, and offers wasteless lamination. It is the higher-volume, higher-resolution model.
What is iON technology?
HID rapid warm-up system. It brings the printer to transfer temperature in under 60 seconds instead of several minutes, cutting waiting time and standby power use.
Do I need 600 dpi for ID cards?
Not for standard staff badges – 300 dpi is sufficient. Choose 600 dpi when printing microtext, fine security patterns or high-detail government credentials where fine features must stay sharp.
What is wasteless lamination?
A lamination method that uses overlaminate material far more efficiently than conventional systems, reducing waste and lowering the per-card cost of producing tamper-resistant credentials.
Is the HDP6600 faster than a direct-to-card printer?
Yes, in most cases. At up to 230 cards per hour it matches or exceeds the DTC1250e and DTC4500e for full-colour output, while delivering retransfer quality.
