A standard CR-80 card offers 85.6 × 53.98 mm of printable surface on each side — 9,238 square millimetres of total real estate. Single-sided printing uses only half of that space, leaving the back of every card blank. For organisations issuing credentials that need to carry multiple pieces of information — employee photo, name, department, job title, company logo, emergency contact, barcode, access permissions, expiry date — dual-sided printing isn’t a luxury. It’s a necessity.

The Javelin DNA PRO Dual Sided eliminates the compromise. Print a full-colour employee photo, name, and company branding on the front. Print department information, barcode, emergency instructions, and legal disclaimers on the back. All in a single automated pass through the printer, with no manual card flipping required.

Automatic Card Flipping — One Pass, Both Sides

The dual-sided module inside the DNA PRO physically flips each card during printing so the printhead can access both surfaces. The card feeds in, prints the front side, flips automatically, prints the back side, and ejects to the output hopper — all without operator intervention. For a batch of 100 employee badges, that’s 100 cards printed on both sides in approximately 45 minutes of unattended operation.

Lower Cost Per Card Than You Think

While dual-sided printers cost more upfront than single-sided models, the cost per card is often lower when you factor in what you’re getting. A single-sided card that runs out of space forces you to print additional inserts, wallet cards, or separate documentation. A dual-sided card consolidates all that information onto one credential. YMCKOK Ribbons — Optimized for Dual-Sided Work

The DNA PRO Dual Sided uses YMCKOK ribbons — Yellow, Magenta, Cyan, Black, Overlay, and a second Black panel. This ribbon configuration is specifically designed for dual-sided printing: full colour on the front, black text and overlay protection on the back. One YMCKOK ribbon produces 170 dual-sided cards, making it more economical per card than printing two single-sided cards and trying to attach them together.

Same Upgradability, Twice the Output

Like all DNA PRO models, the dual-sided version supports field-upgradable encoding modules. Add magnetic stripe encoding for access control, contact smart card encoding for secure authentication, or contactless RFID encoding for proximity badges. The printer grows with your security infrastructure without needing replacement.
