The Javelin DNA is a manual feed printer where you insert each card individually. The DNA Pro has automatic card feed hoppers (100-card input, 60-card output) that load cards automatically. Both use the same 300 dpi printhead and produce identical print quality — the only difference is the feeding mechanism. If you’re printing a few cards at a time, the DNA is simpler and more affordable. If you’re printing large batches regularly, the DNA Pro saves time.

Yes. The Javelin DNA is built on the same platform as the DNA Pro, which means it can be field-upgraded to add automatic card feeding, dual-sided printing, Wi-Fi connectivity, and encoding modules. These upgrades are performed on-site without sending the printer away.

Up to 180-200 full-colour cards per hour using a YMCKO ribbon, or up to 800 monochrome cards per hour using a single-colour ribbon. Since it’s manual feed, actual throughput depends on how quickly you can insert cards, but these are the printer’s maximum speeds.

The Javelin DNA uses standard YMCKO colour ribbons (200 prints per roll), KrO ribbons for black text with overlay (500 prints), and monochrome ribbons in Black, Silver, Gold, Red, Blue, White, or Green (1000 prints per roll). All ribbons are easy to change and are automatically recognized by the printer.

The base model is single-sided only, but it can be field-upgraded to dual-sided printing by adding the dual-sided module. This upgrade is installed on-site and does not require replacing the printer.
